Husband and wife team: Dr. Shevanthi Johnson and Dr. Gladvin Thyagaraj

Born just down the street from Coral Cove Dental at Loma Linda University Medical Center, Dr. Johnson felt the pull to dentistry at a young age. The previous owner of this practice, Dr. Iwata, was her first dentist. During her first visit as a 5-year-old, she was terrified until Dr. Iwata began chatting with her and even painted her nails. That experience left an indelible impression that brought Dr. Johnson full-circle, back to this practice as the owner.

Growing up, Dr. Gladvin was deeply inspired by his uncle, who dedicated his time and skills to providing dental care on mission trips. Witnessing the compassion and impact of those experiences sparked Dr. Gladvin’s own passion for dentistry and his desire to use his profession to help others. After meeting Dr. Johnson in dental school, falling in love, and getting married, Dr. Gladvin began building a career rooted in service and connection. Today, he feels honored to live in Loma Linda and to care for his community, carrying forward the same spirit of compassion and commitment that first inspired him.
